By Vika https://pictolic.com/article/why-do-the-japanese-live-longer-than-everyone-else.htmlThe Japanese are a very extraordinary people, sharply different from Europeans and even other Asians. Despite their frantic pace of life, they surprisingly always manage to stay in good shape and look quite healthy and fresh even in old age. With all this, one should not forget that the Japanese have survived several nuclear disasters, love alcohol, and are one of the most hardworking nations. Hence the question, which we will try to answer today: how do the Japanese manage to remain long-livers under the condition of such a rhythm of life?

1. First, a few words about the Japanese as a nation...
Perhaps many of us know that the Japanese are still workaholics. They very rarely have days off, and the vacation lasts much less than, for example, with us. Its duration, according to the law of the country, is only 18 days, but on average no more than 8. In addition, the Japanese smoke a lot and also drink alcohol on a regular basis. Well, the icing on the cake is the nuclear disasters in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as the Fukushima accident in 2011, which they had to endure.
With all this set of "unfavorable factors", the question remains open - how do the Japanese manage to live a dozen or two years more than a standard European?
2. The average life expectancy in Japan is 84.6 years. Men live 81.9, while women live 87.3. If we take the CIS countries as a comparison, then the average life expectancy there is approximately 70 years. Agree that a difference of 20 and even 10 years sounds very significant in the matter of people's lives ...
3. Scientists with world experience have long been trying to unravel the phenomenon of long-livers in Japan. Well, we hasten to upset you and declare that there is no magic here! It's just that the Japanese lead a special way of life, which successfully affects its duration. We will tell about all the features and habits of the Japanese further ...
4. Food
Residents of Japan rarely eat meat products. Vegetarians can rejoice, because if this fact really affects life expectancy, then they clearly remain a clear winner. Of course, the Japanese are not so categorical in this matter. They still eat meat, albeit in small quantities, especially when compared with Europeans. However, for the most part, people here remain committed to fish dishes and eat 4 times more fish than any other person on this planet.
5. Perhaps this is the secret of the longevity of the Japanese! The fact is that fish delicacies are an excellent source of Omega-3, iodine, and selenium, vital for humans. Another fact worth your attention is the preference for fresh products. Fortunately, they can afford it. The diet of every Japanese invariably includes seaweed, as well as a large number of fresh vegetables and fruits.
6. Fluid in the body
Japanese people are accustomed to consuming large amounts of liquid per day. We are talking not only about plain water but also about an amazing drink - green tea, which is famous for its extraordinary properties. In addition, the Japanese always eat in small portions (unlike the same Americans) and never eat bread at all (unlike Russians and Ukrainians).
7. Physical activity
In Japan, pensioners and the elderly are not accustomed to staying at home. They, like the rest of the young population, are always on the move. The Japanese walk a lot and move around the city on bicycles, going in for cricket, golf, and aerobics on the streets. On the streets of Japan, it is very common to find older people doing physical exercises on the street, which, unfortunately, cannot be said about pensioners in our countries.
8. inner peace
The Japanese are a nation that is used to living slowly. They have a highly developed sense of beauty and actually have a unique ability to see beauty in small things. Of course, this is influenced by the general standard of living of all Japanese and its quality, however, the ability not to be driven over trifles and live in harmony and tranquility must be developed in any living conditions.
9. Cheerfulness
There are just a huge number of proverbs and parables on this topic in the country, and the most interesting thing is that people really believe in them and live by these rules! The Japanese smile a lot, laugh, and do everything to maintain a cheerful mood, which certainly adds years to their lives.
10. In all these habits, the Japanese are fundamentally different from us. Russians, and Slavs in general, are quite gloomy and serious people. We are used to having fun and smiling only on holidays and we do not know how to enjoy the insignificant but pleasant little things that life gives us. Perhaps if we try to adopt some of the qualities of the people of Japan, then our life will be longer, more interesting, and happy.
