What a painted alpine village looks like

By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/what-a-painted-alpine-village-looks-like.htmlOberammergau is a small Alpine village that attracted us with its fabulous painted facades. Just a few narrow streets, but each house is like a work of art. All the murals are drawn very well, the shadows and contours are worked out. It seems as if the houses are really decorated with columns, shutters and other decorative elements. These are mostly traditional Bavarian ornaments, fairy tales, or religious motifs.
This unusual technique was first invented by the local artist Franz Zwink. As an advertisement for himself, he decorated the walls of his house with such unusual frescoes, well, and then orders fell to him one after another.
We start the tour from the very beginning of the village and will move deeper — to the most interesting.
The village is located in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, close to Munich.
At first glance, there is nothing unusual.
But as soon as you turn the corner, the first frescoes meet. We stare at it intently, at first I can't even believe that everything is drawn.
The closer to the center — the more interesting it is.
Instead of ugly signs — a beautiful painting.
One of the main themes of the painting is fairy — tale motifs. Here, for example, it is easy to guess the plot of "Little Red Riding Hood".
And here it is very similar to the "Bremen Town musicians".
Just ordinary residential apartment buildings.
But in addition to the painted houses here is just very beautiful.
In this house, for example, lives a collector of all sorts of skulls, horns and animal skins.
At the end of the XVIII century, a local doctor lived here, who ordered the painting of his house, following the fashion of those times. Now it is a residential apartment building.
A sign on the house says that a certain German writer Ludwig Thoma lived here.
The oldest hotel in the city. It was built in 1612 and still belongs to the descendants of the same family.
The second theme of the paintings is biblical stories.
In fact, such a painting can be found in many towns throughout Bavaria, but here the concentration of all the most beautiful is concentrated.
