From 1914 to 1929, they sent the light almost the entire male population Nagyrev, adjacent Tiszakurt and several nearby farms. The exact number of casualties was never established. What happened?
This mysterious and terrible history of poisoners who Nagreva that happened almost 100 years ago, continues to haunt the minds of not only professional historians, but also ordinary citizens.
Criminal case, which was called "the Poisoner from under the yew" or "Angeltale of Nagyrev" began with the arrival of one of the villages in Hungary herbalist Julia Fazekas, also known under the name Zsuzsanna the ol. With its arrival, attributed the death 45-50 (according to other sources 170-300) men, poisoned, which was part of the alkaloids of belladonna (or deadly) and arsenic. This terrible story even served as a subject for documentary video "Angeltale" and the film "Hiccups".
Zsuzsa Olah, she's Julia Fazeres.
Settling in Nagreve in 1911, this "fatal" woman claimed that her husband has long mocked her and brutally beaten. But the Hungarian laws at the time forbade divorce even because of domestic violence. Soon Julius Fazekas died after a harmless dinner of goulash.
During the First world war, near the village built a camp for prisoners of war. Single women left without husbands, who fought at the front, regularly visited the camp and entered into intimate relationships with prisoners. In a short time in the village Nagyrev significantly increased the demand for abortion. By the way, Zsuzsanna Olah (Julia Fazeres) 10 times tried to blame for illegal abortions, but each time the verdict was acquittal.
On the territory of Austria-Hungary was a lot of Russian and Ukrainian prisoners of war.
After the war, unfaithful wives find it difficult to hide "traces the fall". Then the witch (namely so called this woman in the village) suggested that the most effective way to get rid of the "annoying" husbands. The recipe consisted of belladonna alkaloids, in which added arsenic. The effect was, in the truest sense of the word, "stunning". As an example, Julia Fazeres resulted in the death of her husband.
The number of deaths in the village has increased exponentially. Women were sent to "the light" of their husbands, their relatives, lovers, sons... the Reason was not only bullying and beatings, but the inheritance. It should be noted that the cause of death recorded cousin Olah, so the involvement of witches, these deaths to prove it is not possible. But "how much rope does not curl"...

There are three main versions of the arrest of the killers and the cessation of mass poisoning. According to one accomplice poisoner — some clogs detained two men who were lucky enough to survive the attempted poisoning. They pointed to the mysterious woman Bokanowski, which was another alias Fazeres. Another version says that the reason for the investigation was an exorbitant amount of arsenic, which is found in the bodies recovered from the river.
