By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/vietnam-1915-in-color-photos.htmlToday, many people have already discovered Vietnam as a new tourist destination, although for most this country remains almost unknown. I had a chance to travel almost all of Vietnam from end to end (two and a half thousand km.), to see many of its cities. Most of all, I was struck by the feeling of a "layer cake" from various cultures and civilizations – ancient Khmer and Vietese, Chinese, French, and Soviet. Red banners and old Soviet trucks, Catholic cathedrals and" French " wines of local production, almost Chinese cuisine, ancient Khmer monuments, brand-new hotels and office buildings-all this is whimsically combined, forming a unique flavor of this country.
We offer you to look at the color photos of what Vietnam looked like 100 years ago, a few decades after the French conquest. The photos were taken by autochrome photographers from the group of Albert Kahn, who decided to capture the whole world in color at the beginning of the 20th century. The quality, of course, is not like that of Prokudin-Gorsky, zernit. I also had to work on reviving the colors, correcting the tonality, and removing some defects. But this is a technical question, the main thing is a color photo that gives the feeling of traveling on a time machine!
