The last Rock revolution: rare photos of cult grunge bands of the 90s by Chris Cuffaro

The grunge gods rocked the music world in the early ' 90s, starting a new movement. It was an explosion that covered an entire generation. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains conquered the tops of the charts with melodic rock.

Famous photographer Chris Cuffaro is going to present his work at the exhibition "Greatest Hits: Grunge" in Australia. It tells the stories of vivid photos that were left behind the scenes. These are cult memories of that period, which is called "the last rock revolution".

Chris first met the guys from Nirvana in March 1991 in Seattle. He took a lot of great pictures of the cult band.In one of the most famous photos, the trio is standing in the bathroom, and drummer Dave intends to do push-ups on the shower partition. This scene was filmed in the photographer's apartment in Los Angeles.

At that time, the musicians were barely making ends meet, and they did not have the money to rent a room for filming.Photographer Chris Cuffaro became famous in Seattle and became friends with many musical groups. Among them was the band Pearl Jam, which was formed in 1990. He captured the megastar in many locations, including Dallas.The master of photography was able to establish contact with the musicians by simply asking them to sit down in front of the lens. It calmed people down and made them feel more comfortable.

Grunge monsters Alice In Chains caught Chris Cuffaro's eye at the peak of his career in the early ' 90s.He made a lot of cool shots, including this one, which became a classic: musicians fooling around on a playground in Seattle.Lane's atmospheric shot of him wearing black glasses is one of Cuffaro's favorites.

Chris ' photography has appeared in more than 300 albums.

Among them are those released by the grunge pioneers Mudhoney, Jonathan Pawnman and Bruce Pavitt, who created the independent indie label Sub Pop.The recordings of Nirvana, Mudhoney and Soundgarden have sold millions of copies worldwide from this studio. Thanks to the Sub Pop label, cult bands have become known to a wide audience.The photographer says that the current of grunge was truly a musical revolution. The Seattle scene was real, organic, and very honest. The rockers on it were themselves and that's the whole point. The groups did not compete with each other, but, on the contrary, supported each other.

The success achieved by Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and other grunge bands was deafening. Their rise to fame took place before the eyes of Chris Cuffaro, a photographer who managed to preserve the history of the creation of grunge in his pictures.
