Kerstin Anita Marianne Ekberg was born in 1931 in Malmo, the third largest Swedish regional center. In addition to Anita's family had eight brothers and sisters, so you can guess that they lived very modestly.
Already as a teenager, she began her career in the modeling business, and in 1950, at the insistence of his mother participated in the contest "Miss Sweden". In it, she managed to beat all rivals and win the crown diamond.
Shortly after this, Anita went to the U.S. to try their hand at the contest "Miss universe". This time the girl managed to reach only up to 6th place, but that was enough to make an attractive blonde noticed.
After the contest Ekberg signed a contract with the Studio "Universal" (it was one of the prerequisites). The production company sent a promising girl on elocution lessons, acting and English. However, she did it with great reluctance, so to master these skills to perfection her and failed.
However, Ekberg was given the role in the movie "Abbott and Costello go to Mars", where she appeared before the audience as a sexual straznicy Venus. In 1956, she played Ellen Kuragin in the film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's "War and peace". This role is considered one of the best in her career.
Her success in Hollywood changed dramatically failures. Ekberg had a very windy character and didn't want to develop as an actress — the girl liked to attend social parties and to have fun than to attend training and to pester studios. So Anita was mainly given to only those roles that required her beauty, but not talent.
Depending on your perspective, or rather the lack thereof, Ekberg decided to move to Italy. It was here that she got the role, which brought her the status of a sex symbol of the 60s and inscribed her name in history — the role of a superstar in the cult satirical film by Federico Fellini "Dolce Vita".
In the story the heroine Anita is a very self-willed, capricious, but at the same time, many men desire actress. We can say that in this film Ekberg played herself.
"Sweet life" at the time was extremely popular, and with it, Anita, and herself. But even the bright stars fade away sooner or later — it happened. Ekberg stopped inviting in serious projects, and second-rate "passing" paintings, in which she starred, did not bring the desired success.
Personal life Anita also didn't work out. The woman was pretty much a love affair, but tie his fate with the "one and only" she failed. Once in an interview, the actress admitted that he was in a relationship with the Director of concern "Fiat" Gianni Agnelli, considered him the love of his life, and even wanted to give birth to his son. Don't know what went wrong, but soon the couple broke up and have kids in the future Anita and could not.
Two divorces, job problems, the deterioration of the financial situation, bad habits... All this has a negative impact on the state of the former beauty. Since 1970, its appearance began to change noticeably not for the better. Even the bad deals from the studios stopped her to do, and Ekberg finally disappeared from the screens.
All the difficulties that have fallen on the fate of the actress, once very popular and desirable, but is now withered and useless led to the fact that it has practically become a recluse.
Ekberg did not appear on television, led a public life and met old age in the company of his four dogs at his home on the outskirts of Rome. By the way, when in 2009 she broke her hip and spent several months in the hospital, her house ransacked and burned, so after discharge, she was forced to apply for financial support to the Fund Fellini.
11 January 2015 at the age of 83 years, the actress has died. She told reporters that she wanted to be buried at home in Sweden, where her brother bought for her a place in the cemetery.
