Kerstin Anita Marianne Ekberg was born in 1931 in Malmo, the third largest Swedish regional center. In addition to Anita's family had eight brothers and sisters, so you can guess that they lived very modestly.

Already as a teenager, she began her career in the modeling business, and in 1950, at the insistence of his mother participated in the contest "Miss Sweden". In it, she managed to beat all rivals and win the crown diamond.

Shortly after this, Anita went to the U.S. to try their hand at the contest "Miss universe". This time the girl managed to reach only up to 6th place, but that was enough to make an attractive blonde noticed.

After the contest Ekberg signed a contract with the Studio "Universal" (it was one of the prerequisites). The production company sent a promising girl on elocution lessons, acting and English. However, she did it with great reluctance, so to master these skills to perfection her and failed.

However, Ekberg was given the role in the movie "Abbott and Costello go to Mars", where she appeared before the audience as a sexual straznicy Venus. In 1956, she played Ellen Kuragin in the film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's "War and peace". This role is considered one of the best in her career.

Her success in Hollywood changed dramatically failures. Ekberg had a very windy character and didn't want to develop as an actress — the girl liked to attend social parties and to have fun than to attend training and to pester studios.
