Sometimes lying becomes the only way to protect a loved one from heartache. A resident of Xi'an, Cheng Jing (Cheng Jing) was forced to deceive her grandmother for more than 13 years, hiding from her the death of her mother from cancer. She even hired a woman with a similar voice to talk to the pensioner on the phone, calming her down. The old woman was constantly waiting for her only daughter to visit. The centenarian celebrated her centenary with her grandchildren, but she did not wait for her blood for the holiday. The woman died a few months after the celebration.

Cheng's mother, Cheng Congrong, has always been very close to her grandmother. After the woman fell ill with lung cancer in 2003, she continued to call her elderly mother as often as possible. Knowing that she did not have long to live, the Chinese woman recorded several dozen voice messages and asked the children to send them to her grandmother after her death, so that she would think that her daughter was still alive.

Cheng Jing fulfilled her mother's last wish. After her death, the grandchildren sent voice messages to the old woman, adjusting them according to the meaning of certain situations. When it was cold outside, they played a recording in which the mother asked the grandmother to dress warmer. In other messages, she reminded the pensioner about taking medications daily, being careful when walking and assured that she would come to her as soon as she could.

At first, the idea with voice messages worked, but Cheng understood that over time she would have to come up with something else. She found a woman with a voice similar to her mother's, and asked her to call her grandmother and talk to her. And although the Chinese woman playing the role of her daughter tried to copy the voice of the deceased as much as possible, soon the old woman suspected something was wrong. Then the granddaughter lied that her mother had a cold, so her voice changed. This calmed the grandmother and calmed down, and the hired woman continued to call her.

The imitator of her voice often called the old woman and said that she could not come because she had undergone heart surgery. The grandchildren visited the elderly woman, but she really missed her only daughter and really wanted to see her. Cheng Jing and her brothers and sisters came to her grandmother's hundredth birthday, they organized fireworks in her honor, but the old woman still continued to wait for her daughter.

A few months after the centennial celebration, the old woman died without meeting her daughter. This sad story touched the hearts of millions of viewers and flew around social networks. People were crying, empathizing with an elderly woman who saw her blood already in a better world.
