Anton Sevrugin (1830-1933) was the official photographer of the Imperial Court of Iran, his photography studio was one of the most successful in Tehran from the late 1870s until 1934. His career coincided with a critical period in Iran's modern history, an era of active influence on Iranian culture by Western civilization, stretching from the reign of Nasir al-din Shah (reigned 1848-1896) to Reza Shah Pahlavi (reigned 1925-1941).

One of the most famous photographers of the Qajar and Pahlavi era was an Iranian citizen, an Armenian of Russian origin Anton Sevryugin, who received a gold medal at the international exhibition in Brussels. All photos were taken in 1901.
