How were the fates of Gagarin's children and grandchildren
Surely you have seen photos of Yuri Gagarin taken at home, together with his wife and children. Let's find out how the life of the heirs of the great cosmonaut turned out and what they are doing now.
Yuri Gagarin became the first person in history to fly into space. With this feat, he became famous all over the world overnight and became a national hero. People admired him, journalists tried to interview him, and teenagers dreamed of being like him.
Naturally, Gagarin had no end of girls either, but he himself only smiled politely at them and explained that his heart was busy. At home, Yuri always had a faithful and loving wife waiting for him, who even after his death could not fall in love with another.
Married to Valentina, Gagarin had two daughters: the elder Elena and the younger Galina.
Elena was born on April 17, 1959. She spent her childhood in Star City, where the cosmonaut's family moved after he was called to Moscow. Elena was fond of sports, swimming, playing the piano… But most of all she was interested in art, so she graduated from the history department of Moscow State University and became an art critic.
For more than 20 years, Elena worked at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. In parallel, she continued her scientific activity — Elena defended her dissertation on the topic "English book illustration of the mid-18th century", received a PhD in art history and became an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 2001, Elena was appointed director of the Moscow Kremlin Museum, where she still works today.
Galina, unlike her sister, was not interested in the humanities. From her father, she inherited the desire for accuracy and discipline, so she chose an economic education for herself. Galina graduated from the Plekhanov Institute of National Economy, received a doctorate and became a professor. Now she is the head of the department at the same university.
Galina has a family: husband Konstantin Kondratchik and son Yuri. The husband is a medical doctor, since 2014 he has been managing the hematology center of the Morozov Hospital.
The son of Galina Gagarina and Konstantin Kondratchik is called Yuri. It's easy to guess why it was named that way.
The man holds the position of general director of the Khabarovsk airport. He is married, has a young son, but tries not to advertise his personal life. Yuri's colleagues say that he keeps his distance in everything that concerns the "Gagarin theme". Many of them did not even realize at first that they were working with the grandson of the great cosmonaut, although they noticed an external resemblance.
Ekaterina is the daughter of Yuri Gagarin's eldest daughter, Elena. The girl worked for a long time in the same museum as her mother. Now she lives in London, where she moved after her marriage to the diplomat Pavel Vnukov.
It is worth noting that Ekaterina inherited her grandfather's appearance. She has the same dimples on her cheeks and the same kind eyes. No wonder they say that sometimes children look like grandparents even more than their parents.
In general, we can say that all of Yuri's children and grandchildren have grown up to be good, well-mannered people, and he could be proud of them.
