The renowned photographer has been capturing rock stars at close range for four decades. Rolling Stones, John Lennon, David Bowie — among the heroes of his pictures are many popular musicians of that time. These days, an exhibition of his works is being held in London, made during numerous parties held together with the musical creative elite.

This photo of T. Rex lead singer Marc Bolan was taken at the peak of his fame, during recording at the studio located in the Chateau d’Herouville is near Paris. Putland remembers him as "a very nice, but a little arrogant guy."
Rolling Stones during the filming of the video for their song It's Only Rock ‘n Roll, London, 1974. According to Putland, the start of filming was delayed because Keith Richards was seriously late. "The whole room was filled with foam, and we almost drowned in it," Michael recalls.
