These photographs depict Venice 1890‑ies: the famous canals, beautiful palaces, and squares, as well as the everyday life of ordinary citizens. In just 30 years prior to this the town belonged to Austria, and in 1866 was attached to the newly formed Italian Kingdom. The images were painted in natural colors by using fotograma.
