Alcoholics, who have been elegantly dubbed alcohol drinkers, have their own professional holiday — June 19. And if in Russia it will be celebrated with a stack of white, then in other countries on this day they will raise a glass or a glass of a special drink with their national character.

We all know that Mexico is famous for tequila, Switzerland for absinthe, Scotland for whiskey. And what and how do they drink in other countries? We will make an alcoholic trip to different parts of the planet.

Japan

Everyone has probably heard about the traditional Japanese alcohol — sake. Someone calls it rice vodka, someone calls it wine, but in fact this drink is so special that it is quite problematic to attribute it to a certain rank of alcohol. Sake strength does not exceed 15%.

It is customary to fill sake glasses with two hands. And in no case should you pour a drink to yourself — this is a sign of bad taste.

Korea

Both North and South Korea have one national drink — soju. For Koreans, soju is like vodka for us — there it is something like a national treasure. The strength of soju can vary from 18 to 45%.

As in the case of sake, it is not customary to pour soju to yourself and with one hand. The bottle must be carefully held with both hands. The use of soju has its own special etiquette. For example, young people should not drink a drink in front of older people. You'll have to turn away first, and then drink a glass to the bottom. And in no case can you leave even "on the bottom" — the glass must be completely emptied. Otherwise, you simply won't get another drink.

Venezuela

The national drink of this country is angostura. This mysterious bitter drink was originally used as a medicine, but then it was added to cocktails. Only the most fearless alcohol—guzzlers can drink pure angostura - it is not only bitter, but also strong (45%).

The International Association of Bartenders knows two officially registered cocktails with angostura: "Horse neck" (brandy, ginger ale and angostura) and "Old-fashioned" (bourbon or whiskey, three drops of angostura, a piece of sugar, a slice of orange). Sometimes they make a cocktail "Moscow Mule" with angostura.

Italy

Many people associate Italy not with fashion and the Roman Empire, but with grappa — a drink made from grape pomace. Do not call grappa wine. It has its own features, different from wine, and not at all a wine strength: from 35 to 55%.

Grappa can be treated: a small portion of alcohol after a meal has a beneficial effect on digestion. The main thing is not to get carried away, otherwise after such a "treatment" you will have to heal not the stomach and certainly not grappa. Often the drink is added to espresso. And a good snack for grappa can be ordinary salted pistachios.

Greece

Many people probably think that traditional Greek alcohol is wine. After all, in myths and legends, it was him who was most often met — pure or divorced. But the national alcoholic heritage of Greece is considered to be ouzo — vodka, which is infused with aromatic herbs. Most often, ouzo is aniseed.

Ouzo can be drunk clean or diluted with water in a one-to-one ratio. Alcohol immediately becomes cloudy, and not perfectly clean, but it is much easier to consume it. The Greek national drink can be eaten with seafood and salads, as well as fruits or sweets.

This is only a small part of the national alcoholic heritage. The holiday is a holiday, but you should not get carried away — the working week is in full swing. Get acquainted with the traditions, enjoy the taste, but do not forget — tomorrow to work.
