Riboud began experimenting with his father's Kodak camera in 1937, but then studied engineering and later he worked in this specialty. Only 15 years later he again turned to photography and devoted himself entirely to this art, studying with such legendary photographers as Henri Cartier-Bresson, and gaining a unique and well-known subsequently for the whole world style.
Ruby has become known for his revealing stories about various political clashes, including the series of photos about the cultural revolution in China and about the Vietnam war. For many years, the photographer skillfully conveyed the aspects of a normal life during a very unstable situation with his usual fine perception and directness.
One of the most famous works — a young woman with a Daisy (a symbol of peace) facing soldiers with bayonets, became the global anti-war way. Moreover, this picture is a symbol of the movement "flower Power".
Marc Riboud once wrote: "I have always touched more beauty than violence or ugliness. Great happiness to be able to see the world order in disarray, to find rhymes and rhythms through the viewfinder of the camera."
