Playgrounds from a Danish company that even adults can't resist

LEGO is not the only gift from Danish engineers to the children of all mankind. A Danish company designs creative playgrounds that every child (and even adults) dreams of.

MONSTRUM was founded by former theater decorators Ole Barslund Nielsen and Christian Jensen. They have been designing, designing and producing unusual playgrounds since 2003. A huge sperm whale, a princess tower and even a space rocket — all these sites are built for the joy of children in Denmark, Sweden, Egypt and even in Russia. The company supplies its works with descriptions of the ideas embedded in the projects.

Liseberg

"Welcome to our playground in Liseberg, Tivoli in Gotenburg! Swing in giant nets, climb as high as you can (adults can also be tempted), and enjoy close communication with sunny bunnies and huge birds."

Curved towers

"A long time ago in 1800, when Brambleby was in the countryside, there was a dairy farm and a slaughterhouse. The idea of the playground is to recreate a piece of old Brumbleby to remind of its wonderful history."

The Blue Whale

"What could be better than being in the mouth of a blue whale on a Sunday morning? You can climb on the back of a whale if you crawl through its mouth and end up in its stomach. You can also climb through the side opening to the balcony on the whale's back. From here you can slide down the hill."

Odense Zoo

"The story takes place in the African savanna. The lion of Chunga lies comfortably, hiding from the little goats, and dreams of the next dinner. Through the grass you can see the outlines of an old hut on a tree with two huge slides."

The eel and the lighthouse.

Dragon

Children's railway station

"The children's Railway station is an indoor playground at the Danish Railway Museum in Odense. The venue is inspired by the Odense train station of the 1960s."

Kristinebergs Slottspark

"There is constant movement throughout the large playground in Kristinebergs Slottspark. Two huge owls 5.5 meters high — the king and queen of the playground. They rule on a large platform with slides, luring curious boys and girls to climb high and low slides."

Cachalot

Bermuda Triangle

"The pilot went on a long expedition through the Bermuda Triangle to investigate the many stories of ships and planes that mysteriously disappear in this place."

The globe

"In DOKK1 (new central Library and Arhus Citizen Service Center) you will find the Kloden playground ("Globe"). The project was carried out in collaboration with Schmidt / Hammer / Lassen Architects and Kristine Jensen Architects. The project was funded by the Herman Salling Foundation."

Rocket and Princess Tower

Pike
