MONSTRUM was founded by former theater decorators Ole Barslund Nielsen and Christian Jensen. They have been designing, designing and producing unusual playgrounds since 2003. A huge sperm whale, a princess tower and even a space rocket — all these sites are built for the joy of children in Denmark, Sweden, Egypt and even in Russia. The company supplies its works with descriptions of the ideas embedded in the projects.

Liseberg
"Welcome to our playground in Liseberg, Tivoli in Gotenburg! Swing in giant nets, climb as high as you can (adults can also be tempted), and enjoy close communication with sunny bunnies and huge birds."
Curved towers
"A long time ago in 1800, when Brambleby was in the countryside, there was a dairy farm and a slaughterhouse. The idea of the playground is to recreate a piece of old Brumbleby to remind of its wonderful history."
The Blue Whale
"What could be better than being in the mouth of a blue whale on a Sunday morning? You can climb on the back of a whale if you crawl through its mouth and end up in its stomach. You can also climb through the side opening to the balcony on the whale's back. From here you can slide down the hill."
Odense Zoo
"The story takes place in the African savanna. The lion of Chunga lies comfortably, hiding from the little goats, and dreams of the next dinner. Through the grass you can see the outlines of an old hut on a tree with two huge slides."
The eel and the lighthouse.
"Right next to the Bermuda National Museum is a huge green eel wrapped around a lighthouse."
Dragon
"A big dragon has settled in the Muligedernes Park in Aalborg. Come, children, to play, if you are not afraid!"
Futuroscope
"Have you ever dreamed of becoming the size of an insect? The Futuroscope playground complements this adventure with tall grass, huge flowers and a giant ant."
Children's railway station
"The children's Railway station is an indoor playground at the Danish Railway Museum in Odense. The venue is inspired by the Odense train station of the 1960s."
Kristinebergs Slottspark
"There is constant movement throughout the large playground in Kristinebergs Slottspark. Two huge owls 5.5 meters high — the king and queen of the playground. They rule on a large platform with slides, luring curious boys and girls to climb high and low slides."
Cachalot
"The sperm whale has been at the center of many amazing stories over the centuries — from "The Prophet Jonah and the Whale" to "Moby Dick" and "Pinocchio."
Bermuda Triangle
"The pilot went on a long expedition through the Bermuda Triangle to investigate the many stories of ships and planes that mysteriously disappear in this place."
The globe
"In DOKK1 (new central Library and Arhus Citizen Service Center) you will find the Kloden playground ("Globe"). The project was carried out in collaboration with Schmidt / Hammer / Lassen Architects and Kristine Jensen Architects. The project was funded by the Herman Salling Foundation."
Rocket and Princess Tower
"In the past, the founding fathers of MONSTRUM built sets for theaters in Copenhagen. Like the design of the stage, the playground should have an inspiring appearance to attract children, and functional content with the possibility of climbing, sliding down slides and relaxing."
Pike
"Pike is a very voracious fish that eats anything. In 1230, the German emperor caught a pike that was more than five meters long and weighed more than 1/4 ton."
Towers
"If you wanted to feel big as a child, go to the Felledparken in Copenhagen and visit the Tower playground with endless opportunities for physical activity and technological interaction."
Terville
"In Terville, a big frog looks out of the water. She tries to catch flies with her tongue. Be careful not to be eaten: she may decide that you are a fly."
Space
"The idea of a playground (which is located in Moscow on the territory of the VVC. — Editor's note) — a journey through the Russian space program. Get to know the dogs Laika, Squirrel and Strelka and jump on the Sputnik, the launch vehicle R-7 "Seven" and "Lunokhod-1"." The company's website has a video of the site and photos of how it was made.
Fortress City
"The fortress city is designed as a small place for adventures, where children can hide and play role-playing games."
Submarine and lighthouse
"The interior of the submarine is divided by a lock with round viewing holes. The navigation deck can be accessed by stairs in the submarine tower. Older children can crawl from the navigation deck into the hull of the submarine."
Fishing and Marine Museum
"Probably two ships stuck on a small island with a lighthouse and a small lighthouse keeper's house? Maybe they were lured there by the islanders?"
