But in the end it turns out that the answer is easier than it seemed and everyone becomes funny. This is exactly how things were with the mystery of the Garfield plastic cats, who for 30 years attacked the inhabitants of one of the villages on the shores of the Iroise Sea in France
Residents of the coast for almost a third of a century regularly found spare parts of children's phones made in the form of the popular cartoon character Garfield the cat in the 80s on the seashore. Heads, paws, tubes, electrical parts and other parts of toys have become commonplace for several generations of seaside residents.
For three decades, the members of the Ar Viltansoù association have been meekly cleaning up strange garbage, never ceasing to puzzle over where the inexhaustible source of cats is located. The only thing the researchers have succeeded in is that they have determined the connection of the Garfield phenomena to the people with the tides.
The only more or less plausible hypothesis for the appearance of such a large number of toy parts can be called the loss of a container filled with Garfields by one of the cargo ships. Cases when containers fall overboard happen and their contents in such cases sooner or later appear on beaches or rocks.
A local resident, Rene Morvan, helped to find a place where plastic cats are concentrated. The man contacted representatives of Ar Viltansoù and said that when he was about 20 years old, he and his brother were walking by the seashore and saw a lot of phones in the form of a cat. The guys managed to find a place where there was a huge number of these toys — a container with cargo was stuck in one of the coastal grottoes.
The cargo was not visible from the outside, and it was possible to get inside only at low tide. The Morvan brothers decided not to tell anyone about the find, as they were afraid that by approaching the container, they had violated some law. And now, 30 years later, Rene decided to show the members of the association protecting the coast of the Iroise Sea from garbage, the place where the lost goods are located.
The head of the volunteer association Ar Viltansoù Claire Simonin-Le Mer herself went to the place, as well as local journalists. The container was actually inside the grotto and there were many more yellow cats in it. Environmentalists extracted everything they had before the tide came in, and then contacted the Iroise Marine Park and told about the unusual find. The mystery has been solved and the Garfields will no longer disturb the inhabitants of the picturesque Atlantic coast.
