One Contact Story: Rosa Lotti and the UFO Dwarfs
By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/one-contact-story-rosa-lotti-and-the-ufo-dwarfs.htmlAmazing stories of contacts of earthlings with alien civilizations appear regularly. Now that science fiction has become one of the most popular genres of cinema and literature, this is not surprising. But people told about meetings with aliens before, and their stories were sometimes strange and frightening. The story of the Italian Rosa Lotti, which happened about seventy years ago, can be considered one of the most unusual.
It all happened on November 1, 1954 in the province of Arezzo, in sunny Tuscany. 40-year-old Italian Rosa Lotti left her home in Cennin and walked along the path through the forest to the neighboring town of Bucine. Rosa, a farmer's wife and mother of four, was a devout Catholic and was about to attend All Saints' Day Mass.
As it should be on a holiday, Rosa was smartly dressed. She was wearing a bright dress, jacket and recently bought shoes. In the hands of the farmer's wife she carried a bouquet of carnations. But recently it had rained and the path was muddy, so soon the woman took off her shoes and stockings and carried them in her hands so as not to get them dirty.
Having gone half way, Rosa came to a clearing well known to her. Her attention was attracted by a metallic sheen in the bushes and a curious Italian decided to see what was there. Coming closer, she saw a strange object about 2 meters high and 1 meter wide. It looked like a spindle, and its sides were cast in bronze. The base of the object was sunk into the ground, and the vertical position was maintained by small legs.
In the central part of the object there were two round portholes, and in the lower part there was a small door made of translucent material. While Rosa Lottie was thinking about the origin of the strange device, two dwarfs stepped out of the bushes. They chatted casually in a hissing language. According to the woman, they resembled "handsome old boys" no more than 1 meter tall.
The strangers were dressed in silver overalls and leather helmets. Short gray cloaks fluttered behind their backs. But most of all, Rose was struck by the expression on the faces of the dwarfs. They wore wide, unnatural smiles. The woman was dumbfounded and silently looked at the little people. And they were not at all surprised to see her. One, who was older, addressed her with a short speech.
A minute later, the dwarf realized that his monologue was not understood and moved on to decisive action. He jumped up to Rosa and deftly grabbed the stockings from her hands. The second dwarf was also not inactive - he took possession of a bouquet of carnations. Having made a daring robbery, they tried to hide inside their apparatus. But Rosa Lotti was not a timid ten and was not going to go to church without stockings.
She came close to the door and, with a purely Italian temperament, began to shout at the insolent people. Rosa demanded to return her things, and if the aliens knew languages, they would have learned a lot about themselves. The dwarfs were taken aback by such pressure, and the elder returned one stocking to her. The second little man split the bouquet in half and handed the woman some of the flowers.
But Rosa insisted on returning all her belongings. She continued to resound the forest with cries and showed the guests to her feet. But the dwarfs were not going to give away the second part of the women's wardrobe. The elder took a small bronze top hat from the depths of his overalls and pointed it at the brawler. All this time, those very terrible smiles-grimaces did not leave the faces of the aliens.
Despite the fact that the object did not look threatening, Rose Lottie was seized with fear. She turned around and ran as fast as she could along the path towards Buchine. Having run some distance, she looked back and saw that the dwarfs were not chasing her. They stood near their apparatus and silently looked after her. After ten meters, Rosa looked back again. The two small men had already lost interest in her and were walking around their ship, seemingly busy inspecting it.
But Rosa Lotti continued to run and stopped only in the church filled with people. She told about the incident in the forest, but only a few people believed her. In their company, the farmer's wife returned to the clearing, but it was empty. The only reminders of the aliens were a dent in the ground at the ship's parking lot and crushed grass.
Soon, the whole of Italy knew the story of Rosa Lotti, and later foreign newspapers began to write about her. Journalists and film crews frequented her home. A documentary was even made about her story. Many fellow countrymen questioned the woman's story, but there were many who believed her. There were even three witnesses who saw that morning a ball glowing like the sun over the forest and heard a rolling rumble.
Officially, no one investigated the story of Rosa Lotti. There was no particular need for this, because the woman did not try to make money on her and did not impose her version of what happened on anyone. But at the same time, when she was questioned, she always stuck to one version, not paying attention to ridicule. The inhabitants of the province of Arezzo still remember this incident and often tell tourists about it.
