The man used a realistic silicone mask and a wig with a cap of brown hair to "squint" under the white guy. And for quite a long time this trick worked.
But eventually, officers investigating a series of burglaries in the affluent suburb noticed that the suspect's mouth was always open in the CCTV footage. And they realized that the robber was wearing a mask.
Prowell was caught on May 2 during a traffic check. A mask and other items linking him to the robberies were found in his car. According to the police, even the license plates on his car were stolen. During a search of his house, they found a whole warehouse of stolen goods – presumably, the case was put on a grand scale.
Now, Beverly Hills investigators are working with Los Angeles Police Department detectives and Newport Beach authorities to determine if the detainee is connected to robberies in those cities.
It is already known that this person is involved in more than 30 burglaries in the Los Angeles area. He will appear in court on May 25.
