Every year, the largest photo society EyeEm receives hundreds of thousands of works from the most talented photographers from all over the world. In 2017, 590 thousand works from 88 thousand photographers were sent in the hope of receiving the EyeEm Photography Awards. The jury of the photo contest scrupulously selected 100 finalists.

In the period from May to June, photographers sent their works within five categories: "Photojournalist", "Portraitist", "Architecture", "Street Photographer" and "Nature".

Having reduced the total number of contestants to 100 finalists, the judges from National Geographic, Refinery29, BBC now choose the winner of the main prize — a trip to the EyeEm festival in Berlin, a famous photographer to mentor and the latest equipment and camera.

We have selected 21 best photos from the finalists.

In addition to the main lucky winner, the judges will choose five winners in each category — they will receive new smartphones. The works of all 100 finalists will be included in the EyeEm publication and will become participants of the exhibition in Berlin. The winners will be announced on September 16 during a ceremony at the EyeEm Festival.

The first symptoms began to appear in early childhood. Most people with this disease live to be 13-15 years old, but Rupesh is already 21 years old. His parents have written to the Prime Minister of the country asking for help, and are still waiting for an answer."

"Every year during the Eid al-Fitr festival, thousands of people leave Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, to spend time with their families. The trains are so crowded that it is difficult and dangerous to travel. In the photo, the father passes the child through the window, since he himself cannot get out."
