The first baby carriages appeared at the beginning of the 18th century. They were made to order and cost a little less than a small carriage. And the craftsmen who produced carriages were most often carriage makers. Models from the 18th and 19th centuries are characterized by large, elegant wheels, luxurious upholstery and ornate canopies. They were quite bulky and clumsy.
