A baby stroller is a common item in any family with a small child. Now that manufacturers offer a huge selection of models with different designs, functionality and prices, a stroller is chosen carefully, taking into account dozens of factors. Previously, everything was simpler - there was little choice, and the price turned a baby stroller into a luxury item. Is it any wonder that more attention was paid to design than comfort.

The first baby carriages appeared at the beginning of the 18th century. They were made to order and cost a little less than a small carriage. And the craftsmen who produced carriages were most often carriage makers. Models from the 18th and 19th centuries are characterized by large, elegant wheels, luxurious upholstery and ornate canopies. They were quite bulky and clumsy.

In the 20th century, when most of the buyers of baby strollers concentrated in cities, fashion changed dramatically. Baby strollers became more compact and were well suited for walking along sidewalks and alleys.

Despite the fact that the products of the early 20th century already resembled modern strollers, they still looked strange. There was something futuristic and alien about them. This was especially noticeable in the 30s, when everything related to aviation was in fashion. Even then, the designers didn’t think much about functionality.

The modern look of strollers for children was acquired only in the 70s of the last century. Although even then you could see something strange and dangerous-looking on the streets. In the 80s, the creators of “crews” for kids no longer pursued originality and tried to produce practical, comfortable and safe folding models.
