38. A wooden pedestrian bridge was built on this site in 1942, connecting the two parts of the Warsaw Ghetto (large and small ghetto). Chłodna (Cold) Street passed under the bridge, which was excluded from the ghetto due to its role as a main road. The Warsaw Ghetto is a Jewish ghetto created by the Nazis during the occupation of Poland. During the existence of the ghetto, its population decreased from 450 thousand to 37 thousand people.
