Because of this, children look like they are little old men. In addition to wrinkles and sagging skin, they have a lot of problems: joints hurt, and the soul hurts even more - from the cruel ridicule of peers. Read the story of young Indians who had to experience old age in childhood, further in our material.
The world media told about the unusual brother and sister from India back in 2016. At that time, Anjali was 7 years old, and her younger brother was one and a half years old, while the children looked like ancient old men. Not only was their skin wrinkled and sagging, but they both suffered from joint pain like elderly people. Keshav and Anjali were diagnosed with progeria and kutis laxa — two very rare diseases that, unfortunately, are incurable.
The brother and sister suffered not only from joint pains, but also from the ridicule of other children. Only the parents and the older sister supported the unfortunate kids. Anjali said that at school she was called "grandma", "old woman" and "monkey".
In 2016, it was reported that the parents, Shatrughan Rajak and Rinki Devi, wanted to cure the babies, but Indian doctors could not help them. The doctors were able to only slightly alleviate the condition of the brother and sister. However, since the family is poor, they could not afford expensive treatment and gave the children only homeopathic remedies that did not bring effect.
Both cutis lax and progeria are characterized by symptoms that manifest not only on the skin. Patients suffer from reduced immunity, they have a high risk of developing arthritis, chest infections and heart attacks.
Fortunately, after Keshav and Anjali's story became known all over the world, their situation changed for the better. The parents were contacted by the charity organization Care Today Fund and offered medical care for the kids. The children had a facelift to smooth out wrinkles and eliminate sagging skin. They look much better now than they did in 2016.
Despite all the difficulties, brother and sister stick together. They overcome problems together and try to live a full life.
Meanwhile, an Indian doctor eats cow dung and recommends it to patients. Having a higher medical education, he considers this method effective in the fight against many diseases.
