They seem to have magical powers and we fall asleep faster. Even hot nights are not complete without a blanket. We figured out why we use our blankets and now we're sharing it with you all.

1. It regulates our body temperature.
We are warm-blooded creatures, which means that our body regulates its internal temperature and this is what helps us stay warm. However, when we are in deep sleep, all our control disappears. But blankets help our body regulate and maintain the temperature we need.
2. Blankets are an essential part of our bedtime routine.
We are also "creatures of habit" and this has a huge impact on why we need our blankets. Even if it's not about feeling safe, we've been using blankets all our lives. Therefore, when we go to bed and cover ourselves with a blanket, our body receives a signal that it is time to sleep.
3. Blankets reduce stress and anxiety.
Serotonin is one of the feel-good chemicals that play an important role in keeping us happy and calm. When we are in a state of stress and anxiety, it is difficult to fall asleep. However, as soon as we cover ourselves with a blanket, the amount of this chemical increases, and these feelings begin to go away.
4. Blankets help us sleep.
Blankets create a microclimate: a barrier in which the temperature does not change much. This warms our skin, and the environmental factors that cool our body do not affect us as much. Thus, we fall asleep faster.
5. We feel protected and safe.
Blankets evoke a sense of security because the most common fear we had when we were kids was the fear of the dark. So, when this feeling started, we climbed under the covers. It was our magical getaway that fought our fear and made us feel secure. This sense of security remains with us today when we are under the covers.
