When the groom broke his leg, the newlyweds canceled the $50,000 ceremony and got married in the hospital
Britons Steph Murphy and James Goss were going to hold a wedding ceremony in a luxurious palace in Croatia. But, unfortunately, two days before the wedding, the groom broke his leg. The doctors installed a metal plate in his leg and forbade James to get out of bed. Therefore, the couple decided to hold the ceremony in the hospital chapel.

All the plans of the British couple went down the drain after James slipped on the seashore during a stop during a sea cruise. The ceremony worth 36 thousand pounds, which was planned for 18 months, had to be canceled. This trouble, because of which the groom was strictly forbidden to get out of bed for some time, occurred approximately at the same time as 40 relatives and guests of the couple flew to Dubrovnik to attend the wedding, which was planned to be held in the luxurious Sponza Palace, an architectural monument of the XV century.

Well, circumstances did not stop the determined lovers. James and Steph, both civil servants, wanted the ceremony so badly that they agreed to hold the wedding in the hospital chapel. And the doctors gave the go-ahead. Of course, provided that James does not get out of bed.

Steph was wearing a chic dress by designer Maury Lee worth 1,200 pounds, and James was dressed in the top of his wedding suit for 400 pounds.

The newlyweds admit that this situation made it clear to them that in fact it is only important to be together, and the cost of the ceremony does not matter so much.

James had to give up painkillers in order not to feel completely sluggish, and the newlyweds spent their wedding night in a hospital ward.

"The hospital staff moved my bed to James' bed so that we could be close. We were just trying to make something good out of an unpleasant situation, and it was incredibly romantic. But we were woken up at 5 a.m. to take James' blood, and that ruined everything. In fact, these days were just wonderful, because circumstances eliminated all the glamour, all the husk, and the ceremony was dedicated to our love, not external attributes," Steph said.
