In 1947, LIFE magazine photographer Alfred Eisenstadt took a series of photographs in the Swiss resort of St. Moritz - an island of peace and luxury in the middle of war—ravaged Europe. In those years, those whose well-being was not affected by the war came to St. Moritz — representatives of rich and noble families, members of royal families, socialites and lionesses from all over Europe.
