For almost a year, the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra was ruled by the ISIS group banned in Russia, which is currently terrorizing the whole world. The first mention of the city dates back to 1000 BC. e. So you can imagine how many priceless evidence of human history the city could boast of. Numerous artifacts were destroyed during the iconoclastic purge by ISIS soldiers.

Photographer Joseph Eid of Agence France-Presse published footage of historical sites before and after these events, showing the irretrievable loss of some monuments and human heritage.
