What do the actors of the movie "Brother-2" look like 19 years after the premiere

The dilogy of director Alexey Balabanov "Brother" and "Brother-2" is a real phenomenon in Russian cinema and culture. In the film "Brother" and "Brother-2" actor Viktor Sukhorukov played the brother of Danila Bagrov, a killer nicknamed "Tatar". People's Artist Sergei Vasilyevich Makovetsky was given even before filming in "Brother-2", where he got the role of banker Valentin Belkin, whose people killed a friend of Danila Bagrov. Director Balabanov recalled that during the filming the actor played at his discretion and made the character more human. A feature of the film was the involvement of the "stars" of show business, who played themselves, in the filming. Presenters Ivan Demidov, Leonid Yakubovich, Valdis Pelsh, famous Russian NHL hockey players and director Balabanov himself appeared in the film. Singer Irina Saltykova got the role of Danila Bagrov's lover. After participating in "Brother-2", Irina tried to build a film career, but received only two minor roles in TV series. Today Saltykova is engaged in business and produces her daughter, singer Alice Saltykova.

Actor Kirill Pirogov got the role of Danila Bagrov's colleague, who helps him organize revenge for the murder of their mutual friend. After "Brother-2" he continued his career in theater and cinema. He starred in the film "Sisters" by Sergei Bodrov Jr. and "Blind Man's Buff" by Alexei Balabanov. Of the last paintings, his roles in the film "Brotherhood", "Portrait of a Stranger" and the TV series "Macmafia" stand out. In the acting environment, Pirogov is perceived as a "theater person" who takes part in classical theater productions.

For actor Alexander Dyachenko, the role in "Brother-2" was the first experience in cinema. In the film about Danila Bagrov, she played the role of a Russian girl Dasha-Marilyn, who became a prostitute in the USA. Jurgens' list mainly includes films of criminal and military orientation. The actress played in "Street of broken Lanterns", "Gangster Petersburg", the films "Friend and Foe", "Cop Wars", "Sea Devils".

Konstantin Muzenko played one of the most striking characters in the film — a Fascist arms dealer. A cameo role made him a recognizable St. Petersburg actor. Even before participating in the filming of "Brother-2", Muzenko was known in the world of cinema as an excellent screenwriter who wrote the script for the films "Ghoul", "Mother do not grieve", "April". After "Brother-2" Konstantin Muzenko continued to write scripts, and also took up directing. In 2003, he received the Golden Eagle for the best directorial debut. In the cinema, Konstantin continued to play episodic roles.

One of the living symbols of the painting "Brother-2" was a taxi driver who tells Bagrov about his vision of Russian reality. Impulsive speech has sunk into the souls of people, and his apt statements have entered the urban folklore. The episodic role of the taxi driver was played by the Honored Artist of the RSFSR Konstantin Zheldin. He continues to play in the theater today and has 67 film works on his account. In addition to the taxi driver, the audience remembered the roles of Zheldin: the bandit Stechel in the series "Liquidation" and the chief appraiser Gokhran Pozhamchi in the first part of the series "Isaev".

American actor Gary Houston played the role of businessman Richard Mennis, with whom Danila Bagrov went to deal. In cinema, he has more than 50 works, most of which are minor roles in Canadian and American TV series.

Balabanov showed the USA as a dull and unattractive place, with ghettos, sleeping areas and skyscrapers against a gray sky. The "bright spot" was the trucker Ben, who, out of the kindness of his heart, agreed to give Danila a lift to Chicago. Together they drive through fields, rivers, forests and against the background of Ben's kind face, the audience sees a completely different America. The role of the trucker was played by actor Ray Toler.

Before filming in "Brother-2", he participated in the cult film "Home Alone", where he played Uncle Rob, to whom the McCallister family is going on a Paris vacation. During his career, Ray appeared on the screens about a dozen times: among his works are the series "Ambulance" and "Servants of the Law". After "Brother-2" Toler played one role and left the profession. Now "trucker Ben" is engaged in the upbringing of grandchildren.

On September 20, 2002, the crew of the film "Svyaznoy" was covered by the collapse of the Kolka glacier in the Karmadon Gorge. More than 120 people died in the tragedy, among them was Sergei Bodrov, who played Danila Bagrov.
