In 2008, South African photographer Frank Marshall, along with heavy metal band from Johannesburg went on tour in Gaborone, capital of Botswana. Heavy metal, which has always been predominantly white genre gaining popularity in South Africa and Kenya, but in Botswana, was born a love of Africans to heavy music.

The roots of this scene laid Botswana rock band from Nosey Road in the distant seventies. At this moment, the scene is divided between the two cities — the capital Gaborone and tourist center Mon.
