Tragedy in Poland: a 20-year-old Russian handball player died under mysterious circumstances

The talented Russian handball player Ekaterina Koroleva, who represented the country at the European Championship held from July 2 to July 7 in the Polish village, was killed Old Apple trees. The body of the girl without signs of life was removed from the water, where, according to eyewitnesses, she bent down from the pier.

It is known that the tragedy occurred on the night of Sunday to Monday. Then the players of the Russian national team, among whom was Ekaterina, were just celebrating the end of the European Handball Championship. The team failed to qualify for the quarterfinals, but overall their performance was assessed satisfactorily.

A group of young people was on a lake near the village of Stare-Yablonki. According to eyewitnesses, at one point the girl ducked from the pier into the water, and when she surfaced, she no longer showed signs of life.

Ekaterina was pulled ashore and an ambulance was called. The doctors who arrived did everything possible to save the young athlete, but they failed to do so.

An examination is scheduled for July 10, which will indicate the exact causes of the girl's death.

A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the tragedy under Article 155 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Manslaughter".

Ekaterina Koroleva has been playing handball since she was 15. She was considered a very promising, talented athlete. Recently, she played for the Stavropol club in the position of the left extreme. She was a member of the Russian youth national team.

On July 10, the first versions of the death of a Russian handball player in Poland became known. The girl died during a date. Participation in the European Championship as part of the Russian national team, a festive banquet on the occasion of the end of the tournament in Poland. A date with a boy I met right there. The couple decided to swim in a local lake. Katya jumped off the pier and did not surface.

The specialists of our team say that there are two main versions of death: either a heart attack or asphyxia against the background of a temperature drop. This can happen even to a completely healthy person. But the Poles still brought the case for unintentional murder (this is the wording of the Polish Criminal Code). The girl's friend was interrogated, but immediately released — he returned to Russia.
