She was born on June 4, 1990, in Windhoek, Namibia, where her parents, Alan Degre and Sylvia Robert, worked as freelance wildlife photographers. Below you can see photos and videos of Tippy with animals, as well as the trailer for the documentary "Bridge the Gap to Africa".

Tippi Degre was born in Africa to a family of French wildlife photographers and spent her childhood in a very unusual way. The girl grew up in the African desert, establishing an unusually close relationship with many wild animals, including a 28-year-old African elephant named Abu, a leopard, lion cubs, giraffes, an ostrich, a mongoose, a cheetah, a zebra foal, crocodiles, huge toads, and even a snake.

Africa was her home for many years, allowing Tippi to make friends with predatory animals, as well as the indigenous tribes of Namibia. Even when she was very young, the young Frenchwoman said:

Parents Alain Degre and Sylvia Robert have captured Tippi's life and her interactions with wildlife in fascinating books and films. "Tippy in Africa", published in 1998 and made the girl quite famous, tells about the life of Tippy and her parents and her warm relationship with wild animals.

In retrospect, despite the obvious and perfectly justified fears of her parents, Tippi had an amazing childhood. Not many of us can claim to have lived a real adventure riding an ostrich in our spare time, or that our childhood best friend was the African elephant – one of the biggest animals on earth!
