The jungle is calling: how to live in an apartment full of houseplants

Loughborough resident Joe Bagley was nicknamed "the man from the jungle"by his friends. Joe, a big fan of gardening, has turned his apartment into a real forest: it grows more than 1,400 plants of all shapes and sizes!

Joe Bagley, 20, from Loughborough, Leicestershire, has a small one-bedroom flat that looks more like a jungle than anything else. It has more than 1,400 potted plants. Even the bathroom is filled with greenery here!

Joe has a wide variety of plants — flowers, palm trees, succulents, and creepers-on the floor, on shelves, on tables, hanging from the walls, and even peeking out of the bathtub.

In the house of 20-year-old Joe — 477 ceramic pots with plants. He has already spent about $ 4,500 (350,000 rubles) on them and spends up to 7 hours a day caring for them. Sometimes he gets up at night, guided by a sixth sense that tells him that some of the plants need additional care.

Bagley plans to further expand his collection, although even today it is not easy for guests to navigate his home. Joe's grandmother lives across the street, so he admits that he sometimes sneaks plants into the house, because she tells him every day that he already has too much vegetation.

Joe takes care of the plants every day for several hours. He regularly takes them outside for hosing to get rid of dust, and every 2-4 weeks he does a big pruning. He also feels uncomfortable being in a place where there is no vegetation.

Joe became interested in plants at the age of 13, when his grandmother gave him a spur of chlorophytum. When he moved into his own home in 2018, his collection grew dramatically from 100 to 1,400 plants. Many of them he picked up withered and brought back to life. Now, having gained experience, he dreams of opening a "cafe in the jungle", where everything will be covered with greenery.

In the cold season, Joe arranges his vegetation for a "proper winter", maintaining a temperature of about 16 degrees in the house.
