The era of chic: 10 fashion designers who changed the fashion world in the 1980s

Many of our readers caught the 1980s and the fashion of those days. And although the Soviet fashion was significantly different from high fashion's leading houses, the influence of the designers that were popular at the time is undeniable. This is the era of Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani and Calvin Klein. The trends that created these designers, have changed not only the world of fashion — they changed the look of the entire population of our planet.

Breakthrough of the company Calvin Klein is in the mid-70s, when the issue of designer jeans on the back pocket which proudly sported the words "Calvin Klein". Later, a similar garment with the company name in a prominent place — has become a real fetish for the avid fashionistas, and this gave rise to the so-called logomania.

Stylish and elegant suits from Ralph Lauren in the 80s be a real sign of good taste. Yes, and the image of Ralph Lauren was a kind of benchmark of how it should look like a wealthy man: the classic Polo-shirt (clothing line Polo with logo Polo player on a horse is still popular), deliberately casually draped jacket and expensive accessories.

At age 18 Jean-Paul sent his sketches all leading couturiers and thus got a job at Pierre Cardin. Despite the lack of special education in the mid-70s Gaultier released his own collection, and by the 80s his name became widely known, not least due to the scandal.

Since the beginning of his career, Lagerfeld worked directly with four fashion houses, creating for each a completely different collection of work. In the early ' 80s, Lagerfeld was the artistic Director of Chanel, while working on his own clothing line KL. Educated architect, Gianfranco Ferre, later became known as the architect of fashion. His first collection, the designer was released in 1978, and in the early ' 80s was followed by a menswear line under the label of ferret. In the late 80s Gianfranco became an artistic Director of Christian Dior and has been given just nine weeks to create the first collection for the house. Indeed, just a few months, a new collection was ready.

Gianni Versace launched his own clothing line in the late ' 70s in Milan. His brother Santo became the main administrator of this fashion house, and sister Donatella was responsible for the photo shoot. In the mid-80s Versace launches men's fragrance L'homme, which brought a new wave of glory Versace. Like Lagerfeld, Versace strongly supported the cult's top models, paying the main models its shows fabulous fees.

Donna Karan began her career with Anne Klein and the late 70's he became chief designer of the house. In the 80s, she founded her own clothing line, targeting the average consumer. Karan refuses to dress up for the incredibly high price and is betting on affordable prices and youth as the target audience. It was a win-win solution: the company's profit was so great, and the popularity of the brand is so wide that in 1984, Donna Karan was enrolled in the Coty hall of fame.

Italian designer Giorgio Armani began issuing its own clothing collections in the mid-1970s and became known for its stylish men's jackets. In the mid-80s Armani signed a contract with L Orеal who started perfume lines, Armani Junior, Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani.

Franco Moschino started his career working as an Illustrator from Gianni Versace. In the early 1980s, he organized his own company Moonshadow, and released a collection of clothes of the highest class, but soon decided to release a more affordable line, Cheap and Chic.

Breakthrough John Galliano was held immediately after College when he created his graduation collection inspired by French revolution. Then the avant-garde clothes store Browns bought the entire collection and put on display. This helped the designer to obtain financial support to present their collection at British fashion Week.
