Canadian Xavier-Justin Naji set a goal to find the smallest hotel room (he did not take capsule hotels into account: he needed a real room). To do this, he went to Hong Kong. He found such a number in Chongqing mansions. This is a complex of buildings, similar to a huge anthill, where many hotels, small offices, eateries, shops are located. Chongqing mansions have a bad reputation in terms of security. Often, the labyrinths of mansions serve as a haven for drug dealers, small-time gangsters, fraudsters and illegal immigrants.
In one of the many hotels in this anthill (no one knows exactly how many hotels there are), Xavier-Justin Naji found a room that looks more like a refrigerator box or hell for a claustrophobic. Opening the door to the room, you immediately get on the bed, because there is nowhere else to go, it occupies the entire space from wall to wall. Lying on the bed, you can't even stretch your legs, you can sleep comfortably only in the fetal position. There is no window here either, instead there is a mirror hanging on the wall.
It is amazing that this tiny room also has a TV, air conditioning and even a bathroom. However, it is also difficult to call it a room. Although there is a toilet, sink and shower, it is difficult for an adult to turn around in such a small space. How to use the shower is not at all clear: it hangs right between the toilet and the sink and, if you turn it on, pours everything around. You won't be able to relax on the toilet either: it is installed in such a way that it rests against the wall, so you have to sit sideways. In this position, the bathroom door no longer closes.
For such a dubious pleasure, you will have to pay $ 30. But you will get invaluable experience and visit the scenery for the films of Wong Karvai.
