The news of the unexpected death of 46-year-old Philip Seymour Hoffman came as a shock to the film industry. The actor was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on the morning of February 2.

According to the New York Post, the actor's corpse was discovered by screenwriter David Katz at 11:15 am. Hoffman was in the bathroom with a hypodermic needle stuck in his arm. Presumed cause of death: drug overdose. The actor has been treated for drug addiction more than once.
