Sparrow in Moscow is a rare bird. Why is this happening?
By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/sparrow-in-moscow-is-a-rare-bird-why-is-this-happening.htmlMany Muscovites have noticed that this year the sparrows in the streets of the capital became much smaller. Someone reacted to this phenomenon with indifference, and someone got worried and began writing letters to the Union for the protection of birds, to clarify the situation. Unfortunately, sparrows and actually gradually becoming small. Why is this happening told reporters ornithologist Elena Chernova.
Expert on birds said that the problem with the sparrows did not arise suddenly, and even five years ago. Even then, studies have shown that the population of sparrows in Moscow is sharply reduced. But if at that time the situation was just alarming, it has now become catastrophic.
The grass is shorn in Moscow, shrubs are cut massively, and small birds need the high grass and dense thickets. Also disturbed and natural nutrition sparrows — leaves, which in autumn you can find beetles and other insects, mercilessly vigibase of parks and gardens and transported.
Everyone who is concerned about the disappearance of sparrows in the city administration soothe the fact that birds aren't extinct, but merely moved to areas where they have a forage base, i.e. in the suburbs. Elena Chernova assured that it's not so birds don't fly away from the city, and it disappear.
The ornithologist told me that the size of the passerine flocks is proportional to the territory in which it feeds. The sparrows actively moving in my site, but anywhere from it do not fly. Their disappearance from the streets of Moscow means only one thing — birds are dying because of the person.
To prevent the complete disappearance of these birds in any area is impossible, as the sparrows bring obvious benefits. They eat insects, destroying green areas and actively hunt for mosquitoes and their larvae. Thanks to their efforts, the Muscovites comfortable near bodies of water, including on the beaches of the capital.
Elena Chernova told reporters that the sparrows have disappeared completely from Babushkinsky district, Altufyevo and style. A similar fate will soon befall of Tits, finches and nightingales, but now these birds are not yet in the danger zone.
Can a person help to survive the Moscow sparrows? A birdwatcher I'm sure. Birds die from diseases directly related to malnutrition. We used to feed birds in winter, but now is the time to do it in the warmer time of the year.Ornithologists say that affect the situation can waiver of mowing grass. This will allow the birds to self-produce their own food. Yes, it will make the lawn less attractive, but will save the lives of thousands of birds, without which all of us have hard times.
Changes in bird populations occurred before, but such a catastrophic reduction in the number of sparrows observation is not yet fixed. Experts believe that if you start to take action right now, then the number of sparrows in Moscow will be restored.
History knows cases when sparrows purposefully destroyed, as it was in China in the middle of the last century. This has led to catastrophic consequences for the people in China will remember a generation of rural residents.
