Anais Bordier knew she was adopted, but she didn't know she had a twin sister. She learned the stunning truth after seeing the video on YouTube. 33-year-old resident of London met with his native blood after 25 years of separation. Read the unusual story of the twins, which became the basis of the documentary.
Anais had always known that she was her parents ' illegitimate daughter. The girl was aware that she was born in South Korea to a single mother, and she was taken to Paris at the age of three months. Foster parents treated the girl perfectly, giving love and care. They always said that they considered Anais to be their own and helped her in all the difficult moments of her life.
And even though Anais ' birth certificate doesn't say she has a sister, she's always wanted one. She had once made an imaginary friend named Anna.
In December 2012, when Anais was studying design at St Martin's Central College of Art and Design in London, her life changed forever. A friend tagged the girl in a video posted on Facebook. When the student opened the video, she froze in surprise – in the frames she saw...herself. At first, Anais thought it was a joke, because she knew that she definitely did not shoot the video clip. The girl on the screen had the same hair and freckles, which is unusual for Asian women, but she spoke with an American accent.
Anais's intuition told her that this was one of the turning points in her life. She spent two months trying to find her copy, but unfortunately, no information could be found. In February 2013, the same friend saw the girl again in the trailer for the movie "21 and Over"("21 and Over"). So the Korean woman managed to find her twin sister Sam. She texted her on Facebook.
Sam, who was located 8,000 km away in Los Angeles, was just preparing for the premiere of the film. When she received the message from Anais, she couldn't believe her eyes. One of her friends suggested that the girl in the photo could be her sister, and the actress realized that this is quite possible, because she was also adopted. A week later, the twins called by video link. The sisters couldn't stop talking for hours. It turned out that they like the same food, have many common hobbies, even facial expressions and gestures were the same.
After three months of communication and correspondence, in May 2013, Anais and Sam met in London. Along with them were their foster parents. The moment of their first meeting was the most exciting and amazing in their lives. Despite the fact that the sisters had not seen each other since birth, it was very easy and natural for them to be in each other's company.
To finally make sure of their blood relationship, the girls did a DNA test. The results showed that they are indeed sisters. A couple of months later, Anais flew to Sam in Los Angeles, and the twins decided to go together to their historic homeland – Korea.
Unfortunately, the girls did not manage to find their biological mother and find out the truth about their birth, but the trip to their native lands was remembered forever. They filmed their journey, which became the basis of the documentary "Twinsters" ("Twinsters"), filmed in 2015.
Anais is now back in Paris. She got married and had a son. Sam has a fiance she's engaged to. The actress continues to live in Los Angeles. The sisters meet several times a year, but during the pandemic, visits to each other had to be canceled. The twins constantly communicate on the phone and correspond, sharing everything that happens in their lives.
The girls regret that they are so far from each other. Nevertheless, they celebrate important dates together – the birthday and the day of the first meeting. Anais and Sam want to keep a strong connection for many years and tell their grandchildren an unusual story of their acquaintance. The twins believe that there are still many bright and joyful moments ahead of them.
Meanwhile, there are many cases where people who are not related by blood are as similar as two drops of water. Canadian photographer Francois Brunnel has proved that doppelgangers really exist.
