Last weekend, Emilia became a guest of the CBS Sunday Morning program, where she spoke in detail about her experiences and showed heartbreaking hospital pictures. Emilia decided to tell about her illness many years later: now the actress is 32 years old, and she was 24 when she had a stroke.
The actress said that she experienced two brain hemorrhages during filming. Most patients, about two-thirds, do not survive after this.
The actress clarified that she had a skull trepanation, after which she was in intensive care — twice a month. Moreover, doctors could not guarantee that the girl's brain functions would fully recover. Emilia was then in despair, because she thought that she would never be able to act again. Fortunately, everything went well, and continuing to work in the series became the best medicine.
Now Emilia has founded a charity organization SameYou — to support those who have suffered traumatic brain injuries.
