Few people would want to be on a prison bus of their own free will, and even go on a dream trip on it — an idea that most people will find completely absurd. But not to this married couple from the USA, who bought an old Chevy B6P from 1989 and turned it into a cozy mobile home.

Americans Ben and Meg Poirier (Ben & Meag Poirier) turned the prison bus into a comfortable home on their own. Their small house even has its own "power plant". Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom — all this is at the service of brave travelers. Who would have thought that such a comfortable and beautiful house could be made from a rusty trough for prisoners.

Ben and Meg Poirier bought an old 1989 Chevy B6P on sale. This is the same prison bus that can often be seen in American films. The car went to customers with a prison entourage: there were bars on the windows, and in one of the walls the guys even found a box for a 12-gauge shotgun.

Of course, all this had to be thrown out. It took the couple two years and three thousand dollars (almost 200 thousand rubles) to remake the entire bus. Since Meg and Ben are supporters of the DIY movement (Do it Yourself), they did most of the work with their own hands.

First they removed the paneling, seats and grilles. Recycled wood was chosen as the main material for the interior.

The guys are very proud that they managed to use pine boards for finishing their bathroom, which were once part of the old shipyard.

The main achievement of the couple was a wood-burning stove that heats the entire bus. Thanks to her, the mobile home is comfortable even on cold winter evenings.

The total length of the mobile home is 9.4 meters. In the limited area of the bus, Ben and Meg placed a bedroom, a living room, a bathroom and a kitchen. Despite the tightness, it is very cozy and comfortable here.

The couple spent the most on an autonomous electricity system: solar panels are installed on the roof of the bus, thanks to which a refrigerator, stove and other electronics work in the bus.

The mobile home is completely autonomous — solar panels, a wood-burning stove, it remains only to fill up with gasoline, fill up the water supply system, replenish food supplies and you can go wherever you look.

Lovers of wandering Ben and Meg prefer to spend their leisure time in nature. They are fond of cycling, mountaineering, hiking. They are accompanied on their travels by a faithful dog named Moose.

The guys have their own blog on Instagram, where they share their impressions of trips and discuss plans for the future. More than 28 thousand people have already subscribed to their @wilddrivelife account. They're on their way from New Hampshire right now.
