From 2007 to 2010, Boryana worked as a photographer for Agence France-Presse, shooting news reports. In 2010, following her dream, Boryana became a freelance photographer. Now she takes pictures for such publications as The New York Times, Le Monde, Paris Match, Foreign Policy and others.

Bulgaria, located in the eastern part of the Balkan peninsula, is going through a difficult change of political and economic formation, the transition from socialism to a market economy.
