She was born on December 16, 1993, and since 2011 she is considered the smallest woman in the world. This is already Jyoti’s second involuntary record - before she turned 18, she held the title of the smallest teenager on the planet. Despite her peculiarity, Amji lives a busy life and is quite successful.
Jyoti Amji was born in the city of Nagpur, in central India. For the first couple of years of life, no one noticed that anything was wrong with the child. But when it became obvious that the girl had stopped growing, the parents turned to doctors. Jyoti was diagnosed with achondroplasia. This is a congenital genetic disease, the main symptom of which is dwarfism.
Jyoti has three sisters and a brother of normal height, and there was no one in her family with such a disorder. The girl's parents did everything possible so that she did not feel left out. Amji attended a regular school, where she was given a small desk. For a special child, she had to order clothes, shoes and everyday items, since every year it became more and more difficult for her to adapt to the world of big people.
As a child, Jyoti was very burdened by her tiny height. But as she grew up, she realized that this was her “zest” that would help her succeed. And so it happened - even in high school, representatives of the Guinness Book of Records became interested in her. The girl was recognized as the smallest teenager and was awarded a certificate.
The record brought the Indian a certain amount of money, which helped her fulfill her old dream. Jyoti went on a trip and visited the USA, UK, Italy and Turkey. Returning home, the girl decided not to sit on the neck of her relatives, but to make her way in life on her own.
Now Jyoti Amji is a real celebrity. She earns enough to support not only herself, but her entire large family. Her daily salary reaches 1,200 euros (116 thousand rubles), which is comparable to the average annual salary of an Indian man working at a factory. In 2019, the little star’s fortune was estimated at 500 thousand euros (48.6 million rubles).
In 2009, Jyoti Amji became a star on television and film screens. Her public career began with the documentary “Two Foot Tall Teen” on the British channel Channel 4, one of the episodes of which was dedicated to the girl’s life. Later, she took part in the Indian show “Big Boss”, where her partner was Nepalese Chandra Bahadur Dangi, the smallest man in the world. At another event, Jyoti posed with record-breaking giant Turk Sultan Kesen.
In 2014, Jyoti was invited to star in the fourth season of the popular television series American Horror Story. She played the role of Ma Petite, the assistant to the owner of a freak show. Her partners on the set were stars such as Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Kathy Bates. After this, Jyoti took part in other projects, where her roles were small but memorable for the audience. In 2015, Amji visited Russia and received an award at the Russian film festival “Kaplya”.
Having become famous, Jyoti Amji no longer hides her face with a veil on the street. She likes being recognized and asked to give an autograph or take a photo together. The actress actively maintains pages on social networks, where she shares details of her daily life and career. From her publications it becomes clear that Amji is no different from other women. She is interested in fashion, loves shopping and regularly visits beauty salons.
Unfortunately, not everything is perfect in Jyoti's life. She still lives with her parents because she needs special care. Her middle-aged father and mother are worried about what will happen to their daughter when they are gone.
