They disparagingly called "zolotogorskaya" and mentioned that they defended the interests of the tsars and nobles, that is, the oppressors of the common people. Recognition to the outstanding sons of Russia came later, but historians had to work hard, adjusting them under new, Soviet standard.
To the Soviet people needed new heroes is believed that one of the authors of the revolution and the founding fathers of the Soviet Republic, Nikolai Bukharin. He argued that tsarist generals need to oblivion. But there was also the opposite view, according to which some still should admit. How else, after all, a young country that was born a few years, risk to remain without history.
It was decided to acknowledge some of the king's field marshals and generals, but present them in a new light — as persons, certainly entering the Royal power in conflict and, of course, as "fathers soldiers", that is, loyal to the common people. All uncomfortable, slandering hero in the eyes of the proletariat, the facts had to be hushed up.
All of these conditions distorts history and forced scholars and writers to properly break down. I must say that the Imperial generals least cared about what they can write the worker-peasant historians, and behaved quite irresponsible.
Most had to Tinker with Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov — the contribution of the Generalissimo in the military and the story was huge, and he, to put it mildly, was the hero of "inconvenient". The return of the commander of a good name began in the late 1930‑ies.
In 1938, the writer Leonti Rakowski started to write the novel "Generalissimo Suvorov", which he managed to complete only after the war. The book triggered a wave of criticism — much too far-fetched, bast looked like his hero. In 1940 came out and the film "Suvorov", the same enthusiastic and inspirational.
Book Rakowski has raised many questions, even the students, which, in principle, was addressed. "No gloves, no gauntlets he had never sewed," wrote Suvorov author. It was unclear how General and then the Generalissimo could ignore an important part of his uniform and, especially, how he bare hand holding a sword mercilessly in the Russian cold and during the famous crossing of the Alps. But that was a trifle, and in General, the ideal of the brave commander was formed.
Together with Suvorov was able to restore the good name of his colleagues — to Kutuzov, Bagration and Platov. But the others did not want to fit in Soviet heroic standard. For example, the hero of many military campaigns Miloradovich, as luck would have crossed all participation in the revolt against the Decembrists in 1825 on the Senate square.
A heroic crossing of the Alps
In the biography of Suvorov very slippery thing was his Polish campaigns — or rather, the punitive operation in the suppression of uprisings. In Poland he was the first to show their talents, for it was his first order of St. Anna and order of St. George 3rd degree, bypassing the mandatory 4.
Suvorov put down an uprising led by Tadeusz Kosciuszko, who was considered a revolutionary hero of the Polish people and a fighter against the tsarist regime. In honor of the outstanding pole called the streets and ships, as it turns out, ran through the fields and forests from another hero — Alexander Suvorov, who dreamed to catch and hang.
The rank of field Marshal Suvorov he received the storming of Prague. No, not the Czech capital and the suburbs of the Polish Warsaw. Historians recognize this moment as one of the prominent signs of the genius of the commander. The film "Suvorov", filmed in 1940, was very timely, since 1939 took away the neighbor of the lands and annexed to their territory.
Still from the film "Suvorov"
The movie turned out, the propaganda motive — Polish lands was in the days of Suvorov in Russia and is considered by many, to justify the occupation. But after the Second world war, when Poland became a socialist friend, about the adventures there Suvorov delicately silent.
To maneuver in the Polish questions were very difficult, since almost all of the first brilliant victory Alexander won it over the poles. A little easier with another stain on the reputation of Suvorov — the revolt of Pugachev. The leader of the rebellion, Yaik Cossack Yemelyan Pugachev, was a major historical figure, a forerunner of all revolutionaries.
In Soviet history books say that in Moscow Pugachev brought in an iron cage "of the Royal executioners." The names of these scoundrels was called, as it turned out very very ugly situation. The freight rebels to the place of trial and execution was supervised by none other than Suvorov.
Lucky though that Alexander himself was not involved in the defeat of the uprising and the capture of the chieftain — he is just not yet. So it was with a light heart to remove the commander from this story. About the fact that "finish off" the remaining units of the rebels sent Suvorov was not to mention, after the execution of Pugachev was not much.
But Suvorov was noted even in the Kuban and the Crimea, where under his leadership suppressed the riots. With his knowledge shot, hanged and cut down by swords rebels Nogai Tatars and representatives of many other Nations. Suvorov cope with any work entrusted to it by the Manager and the student he was born. Only here to negotiate, and did not like most of the issues solved punitive methods, and cruelty to him, according to contemporaries, was not to take.
