The first McDonald's restaurant was opened here, and a queue immediately lined up for it. Now locals and tourists will be able to eat burgers at an altitude of 3700 m with a view of the main attractions of the capital Lhasa.
A popular fast food spot is located opposite the UNESCO-listed Potala Palace, which has been the winter residence of the Dalai Lama since the beginning of the 7th century. This is one of the most important Buddhist symbols, which annually attracts crowds of tourists from all over the world.
There are also other attractions nearby: Jokang Temple, Sera Monastery and Norbulinka Palace.
The Tibetan McDonald's employs 60 people in order to have time to serve all visitors efficiently.
Local media claim that the restaurant immediately lined up for your favorite food. The most popular orders, as in other popular fast food outlets, were French fries, burgers and "Happy Meal" sets.
Tibet is one of the most magical places on Earth. Its national cuisine also differs in many ways from other countries, surprising with an unusual combination of flavors.
