Some of these accidents are caused by drunk drivers. The local authorities of the city of Kaohsiung in Taiwan have found an original way to influence those who drive drunk. Violators are forced to clean funeral homes and morgues so that they feel what it means to be one step away from death.
Recently, Kaohsiung was stirred up by a tragic case. Then, in an accident caused by a drunk driver, the father of the family died, and three people were injured. The mayor of the city announced that from now on, correctional work in local funeral homes will be the punishment for those who will be caught driving drunk.
A few days later, 11 violators were sent to the city funeral services bureau. They were forced to clean the morgue, the refrigeration department and the crematorium.
Drivers who had to do such a terrible job for four hours, told about the gloomy feelings that arose during the cleaning. Most of them were so impressed after work that they swore never to drive drunk again.
The city authorities are confident that the introduction of correctional work in funeral homes will make unconscious drivers more disciplined, and they will appreciate life. Officials hope that in this way they will be able to put an end to drunk driving and increase the level of safety on the roads.
Meanwhile, a drunk driver in the United States escaped imprisonment behind bars. To do this, she had to fulfill the unusual demands of the police.
