There are almost no peoples or countries in the world that would not have their own national alcoholic beverages and their own customs of their consumption. At the same time, neighbors are very fond of labeling each other as “ugly drinkers”, claiming that they have already “crossed the line” here and there and “the alcoholization of the population has acquired the character of an irreversible humanitarian catastrophe”, etc., etc. . Great Britain is not among such "hopeless alcoholics", and statistical reports trump with the fact that the level of alcohol consumption here is almost 7 times lower than in Russia. Here's what this situation looks like through the lens of the famous British photographer Peter Dench. His parents worked at a brewery, and Peter first tasted beer at the age of just 11.
1. Several works by Peter Dench are devoted to the alcohol theme. So, in 2000, he created a series of photographs called "DrinkUK" (Drinking Great Britain). Peter's lens often includes heavy drinkers and various social problems associated with alcoholism.
2. Henley Royal Regatta, whose patron today is Queen Elizabeth II. One of the ladies is already so tired of the festive libations that she decided to just lie down on the grass, waiting for her turn to the toilet.
3. The photographer believes that many of his fellow citizens can make absolutely any event a cause for drinking. Plentiful libations celebrate solar and lunar eclipses, victories and losses of your favorite sports teams, and even just the fact that today is Monday or any other day of the week. And all this is considered as a serious reason for which it is simply impossible not to drink, and there is no question of any alcoholism.

5. Many do not just drink, but drink inventively, inventing all sorts of foolishness, which are far from always harmless.
6. Peter Dench looks for subjects for his photographs everywhere: on the streets, in pubs, and even going on duty with paramedics who examine participants in traffic accidents.
7. A group of friends in the city of St. Ives while away the time drinking. To take such pictures, the photographer has to spend quite a lot of time in the company of drunkards, so that they get used to his presence and do not pay attention to the flashes, but calmly go about their business.
8. Teenagers drink cider at one of the bus stops in the small town of Cleethorpes.
9. A visitor to a pub in Lancashire shows off his muscles and tattoos.
10. The consequences of an accident that occurred through the fault of a drunk driver near Bristol.
