How juvenile prisoners live in Siberian colonies

Categories: Photo project

Belgian photographer Carl de Keyser began working as a reporter in 1982 while also teaching photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Today he is the recipient of the Arles Festival Book Award, The W. Eugene Smith Award and the Kodak Award, and exhibits regularly in European galleries and art spaces.

The photo project "Zone", dedicated to Russian prisons, took Keizer 11 months of work, during which he visited and photographed about 40 colonies of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, which were once the Gulag zone.
