1. "Judgment Night", 2013

The plot of the psychological thriller revolves around a simple concept - all crimes are legalized for 12 hours.

Sometime after the premiere of the picture, 19-year-old Jonathan Cruz, who watched the film and imagined himself to be its hero, terrorized Indiana for four days. He managed to commit a robbery and shot three men.

The young man managed to be detained and sentenced to three life terms.

2. Friday the 13th (franchise)

Mark Branch, who worked as a salesman, looked like any other young man in the 80s who liked to rent horror videotapes.

In October 1988, the 19-year-old Greenfield, Massachusetts native turned his horror fantasy into reality.

Late in the evening, dressed as a maniac Jason Voorhees, he snuck into the house of student Sharon Gregory, taking a machete with him, and brutally cracked down on an 18-year-old girl. The police, having enough evidence, immediately attacked Mark's trail.

His dead body was found a month later in the forest. Although his death was ruled a suicide, some believed that the locals themselves were administering justice to Branch.

3. "Scream", 1996

After the film's release, it quickly gained well-deserved fame and became a classic - a film that is highly regarded in the slasher genre. Scream's main attraction was its brilliant ability to use satirical approaches to this genre, bringing an original look to the horror world.

But the film also inspired the Indianapolis cousins to commit a shocking crime.

In 1998, two cousins, 16-year-old Mario Padilla, and 14-year-old Samuel Ramirez, bought Ghostface costumes and a voice-changing device.

Later, Padilla stabbed his mother several times while Ramirez held the woman. Padilla was sentenced to life in prison, while his cousin got off with a 25-year sentence.

4. "Queen of the Damned", 2002

It is recommended to follow people who keep watching the same thing a hundred times in a row.

In 2002, 22-year-old Allan Menzies from West Lothian, Scotland did just that. After watching "Queen of the Damned" over a hundred times, in December of the same year, he beat his best friend with a hammer, then cut him with a knife and even drank some of his blood.

According to Menzies, this was his chance at immortality.

He claimed that Akasha, the vampire queen from the film, (portrayed by the singer Alia) appeared to him, promising him eternal life if she received a sacrifice in return.
Psychiatrists found Allan sane and sent them to prison for life.

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street (franchise)

After watching the horror, many especially sensitive viewers were afraid to fall asleep, fearing the notorious Freddy Krueger, who could visit them in a dream.

But the reality is scarier than any horror movie.

24-year-old Briton Daniel Gonzalez, inspired by the image of a screen maniac, was determined to at least for a while become an imitator of Kruger.

In September 2004, armed with knives, he killed four men. When he was arrested a few days later, Gonzalez was completely unrepentant of what he had done and tried to simulate insanity.

His request for an innocence review on grounds of mental problems was denied and the perpetrator received six life sentences.
