Hardships of life1. Kate Fichard began her career as an assistant photographer to Béatrice Amagata, preparing and implementing a report about Egypt. (Photo: Kate Fichard).

Hardships of life2. That experience helped Kate decide on her life, which led her to take up photography and enrolled at La Cambrai in Brussels in 2008. (Photo: Kate Fichard).

Hardships of life3. Since 2012, Kate, who lives in Paris, has been working as a freelance photographer and collaborating with various magazines. (Photo: Kate Fichard).

Hardships of life4. “At the beginning, I wanted to do my own project about living under constant pressure. I wanted to show the hardships of our life, but for a long time I could not imagine it visually,” says the photographer about the idea of creating the Totem de Vie photo project.

Hardships of life5. “I wanted to do something monumental about the human life force,” the author continues.

Hardships of life6. “In the end, I came up with the idea to make a portrait of a man, presented in the form of a sculpture, surrounded by objects with which he identifies himself. These are objects that should represent the work and hobby of this person, the environment in which he lives, his past, his memories, his family.

Hardships of life7. In this photo project, the burden of human life is presented in a very interesting way. I think that each of us has our own set of objects, our own burdens of life that we carry on ourselves, and sometimes we feel exactly like the models hung with different objects in the photographs of Kate Fichard.
