After all, it is not enough that going all year round crowd of tourists, and the legends that enveloped these places have little relation to reality. Some of them were created in order to capitalize on the popularity of any movie, and others — to capitalize on distortions in history.
"Piz Gloria", Switzerland
Fans of James bond will remember the wonderful beauty of the views from the restaurant "Piz Gloria", which is depicted in the 1969 film "On the secret service of Her Majesty".
The actors from the movie "the secret service of Her Majesty" on the set "Piz Gloria" restaurant, built specifically for the film. When the producer Hubert fröhlich was on the scene, it turned out that the restaurant is not ready yet. The production company paid for the completion of the restaurant under a special contract with the Studio.
Sleepy hollow, United States
The settlement of Sleepy hollow in upstate new York in the late 1800's of years was known as North Tarrytown, but then changed the name because of the favorable Association with the famous short story by Washington Irving.

Shangri-La, China
The role of the fictional country of Shangri-La from the novel by science fiction writer James hiltons 1933 "Lost horizon," there are a lot of applicants. However, the Chinese town of Zhongdian officially changed its name to Shangri-La in 2001.
Is this Zhongdian, Shangri-La or not, the views here are amazing. In addition to dense green forests and capped with snow mountain peaks, there are many Tibetan temples.
The bridge over the river Kwai, Thailand
Through this the river Kwai is no bridge, so a part of the river Mae Klong was renamed the Kwai Yai, that it was in the novel. Pictured is the bridge over the river Kwai these days.
The novel by Pierre Boulle, "the Bridge on the river Kwai" was successfully filmed in 1957 in the film with Alec Guinness in the title role. The river Mae Klong was renamed after the film's release.
Checkpoint Charlie, Germany
The real checkpoint Charlie was removed in 1990 when Germany was reunited, and since then was moved to the Museum. In the photo — reconstruction of that go to gawk at tourists.
Checkpoint Charlie (pictured) was a border point between East and West Germany during the cold war. This is the only place where American and Soviet soldiers on duty near by different sides of the border.
The house at 221b Baker street, United Kingdom
Most people realize that Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character, but that's not stopping fans from going to the Museum of this famous detective.
Although the building hangs a sign "221b", in fact the house is located at the address Baker street 239. What is most interesting when he published the first book about Sherlock Holmes, such address did not exist.
Bran Castle, Romania
