Don't underestimate women in burqas, or how Palestinian women handle guns

The women who are in the combat detachments of the Gaza Strip have shown their skill in handling weapons. Their march took place as part of a military show in the city of Khan Yunis. The participants of the impromptu parade are members of the Al-Quds group, the second most powerful in the sector after Hamas. During the march, the girls fired AK-47s into the air and even conducted demonstration maneuvers.

The Al-Quds Brigades (which translates from Arabic as Jerusalem) were formed in 1981. The main center of militant activity is the city of Jenin and the entire West Bank of the Gaza Strip.

Unlike most Palestinian groups, Al-Quds accepts women into its ranks. The activity of mixed combat detachments increased after US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moved the American embassy there.

After that, the number of bloody skirmishes increased. During one of the scuffles, 60 Palestinians were killed. Residents of the border areas are constantly suffering from militant attacks.

A favorite tactic of the brigade members is sabotage, covert attacks on populated areas using heavy weapons, including RPGs.

Yesterday, on October 7, an armed march took place in the city of Khan Yunis. There were many women among the militants.

Some of the representatives of the brigades, perhaps beginners, made mockups. Others were armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles.

The women, dressed in burqas and with headbands covered with slogans, repeated their oath of allegiance to Palestine and took part in several exercises with firearms.

The Al-Quds brigades consist of approximately 12 thousand people. The number of women in the group is slightly less than a third.
