In 2003, Liang Qiaoying and her son Xia Xiaoyu from China's Shanxi province were gassed in an accident. The woman survived, but was paralyzed and lost her memory, and her son died. Her husband, Xia Zhanghai, was unable to tell his wife that their son had died. Instead, he said that his son had gone to work in another city.

When the EXPO-2010 exhibition was held in Shanghai, Xia saw a policeman on TV. He was struck by the amazing similarity of the officer and his deceased son. The man immediately realized that the policeman would help his wife smile again. But unfortunately, Xia didn't know any information about the young man other than his whereabouts.

Desperate to find the mysterious policeman, Xia went to a TV show to find out at least something about a man he had seen once in his life, and then glimpsed on TV. Later, he was noticed by the crew of another TV show and told his story.

When that same policeman named Jiang saw Xia on TV, he agreed to meet the family on a TV show. The policeman was touched by their loss and told reporters that he was ready to pretend to be the son of Xia and Liang. His only condition was that he would not call anyone mom except his own mother.

The host of the TV show explained to Liang that her son had been working away from home for many years in the security department, so he could not meet his parents. When the reunion of the "family" took place, Liang could not hold back her tears. And although the policeman had never met the "parents" before, he was also touched.
