Blogger lusika33 writes: “The unplanned cave happened due to the successful purchase of an air ticket for the return flight. The girl at the front desk was genuinely surprised why we didn't fly out of Bulgaria 2 months ago, as it says on the ticket. An attempt to buy a new ticket for the same day was unsuccessful and, in general, there were no tickets to Moscow for a week in advance. However, after some time of searching on the Aeroflot website, exactly 2 free seats were formed and for a small amount for our air carriers (and indeed, is it really a lot - 20,000 rubles per person for a three-hour flight without lunch?) We became owners of a pass to our homeland. Plus to everything: another day in Bulgaria was drawn and our Bulgarian friend, leaving all his affairs, took us on another trip.”

Bulgaria: Syeva Dupka Cave

1. Cave Syeva Hole (Bulgarian: Syeva Dupka) is one of the nine well-maintained caves in Bulgaria. It is located near the village of Brestnitsa, Lovech region, 90 km from Sofia. The name comes from two twin brothers Syu and Seyu, who discovered it by accident and hid in it during the Turkish slavery. The cave is included in the hundred national tourist sites in Bulgaria. This is one of the most beautiful caves in the world, and the largest stalactite in it has a circumference of 60 meters.

2. View back to the entrance to the cave. During the work on the improvement of this cavity, animal bones, pottery and Roman coins were found in the ground. Syeva Hole was already landscaped in 1967, but in 1990 it was looted and closed. It was reopened in 2004.

3. The first hall after the entrance is called "Kupena" because of the resemblance to a mop, a mop.

4. The cave is located 520 meters above sea level, its length is 205 meters, its age is 3 million years, the thickness of the "ceiling" is 12 meters, and a river flows under the cave at a depth of another 70 meters. In such caves there is a special air, they say it is useful for them to breathe for the prevention of lung diseases. Here the air temperature is constant 7°-11°, humidity between 90: and 98%.

5. If you look at the photo, you can see a great many small stalactites on the vaults of the hall.

6. The second hall is the same "Srutiste". It was formed as a result of a powerful earthquake and large fragments of rocks are scattered everywhere in it. During the earthquake of 1893, all the stalactites in this hall broke off and fell to the floor of the cave. In their place now you can see the formation of new ones.

11. The Harman Hall has excellent acoustics, which makes it possible to give concerts there. Emil Dimitrov, Yordanka Hristova and Lili Ivanova sang in the Haralan Hall. But, what is even more surprising, weddings are held in Syeva Dupka! If you are a fan of non-traditional things and do not want to ruin your makeup in the heat, why not celebrate your wedding in a cave, where the temperature does not rise above 8-10 degrees? Several films were filmed here.

23. Here is this nondescript formation - a rather rare thing - helictite. Helictites are formed in the same way as stalagmites, but constant air currents direct the solution flowing from the stone in the direction of their movement and therefore the helictite does not grow up or down.
